So many people love the beauty of the outdoors. If you’re going to go out camping then you need to have a few things in mind so that things go smoothly. Make sure you are familiar with all of these camping tips.
Toilet paper and baby wipes are two things that every camper will appreciate. Leaves should only be used in the place of toilet paper if nothing else is available, so make sure to buy some baby wipes and toilet paper for camping trips.
When you go camping, take along a lot of of lint from your dryer. As silly as it sounds, lint makes a great starter for a campfire. The lint also produces flames which are brighter than flames produced from wood chips. Collect the lint from your dryer for a couple of weeks leading up to your trip and you’ll be rewarded with a quick, bright fire.
Water purification tablets should be taken with you. Even if you are planning on bringing your own water or boiling it on site, you never know when an emergency might arise. Try the tablets at home so you know how they will taste. To remain properly hydrated, you need to drink plenty of water, so before you leave on your trip, make sure that the tablets you choose do not give the water a taste so unpleasant that you will not drink it.
Bring plenty of water, food and other drinks in your supplies. It’s also important to find out if their are bear-proof garbage cans in the area, or that you learn how to hang your food in trees if there are bears near your camping location. Take any garbage and burn it so that bears aren’t attracted to where your camp is set up.
Ensure that you go to the bathroom downstream if applicable. This makes sure your waste won’t get into the water that goes near your campsite. In addition, you should be more than 100 yards from where you are camping when you use the bathroom.
Prepare your camp for snakes if you are camping in an area that is known for snakes. Rock piles, wood piles, brush and bushes should be avoided. Always check camping gear before putting it on; perhaps a snake has made it home. Pack the area around your tent with sand so a snake can’t get in while you are sleeping.
Always set up your shelter before the sky turns dark. If the sun is going down, you may be too late to get your shelter finished before darkness closes in. Even if you don’t have a tent, setting up a natural shelter is easier before the sun goes down.
Take some activities that can be enjoyed indoors. Be certain you have a plan in place if the weather is bad while you are camping. It is a great way to occupy your time when you can’t get outdoors. This does not mean your trip has to be ruined. Armed with entertainment, you can easily pass the time inside your RV, cabin or tent.
Learn about the poisonous plants in the area you will be camping before you leave. You should know what to look for. It’s easy to find books on identifying poisonous plants or you can simply go online and research them. This will allow you to avoid coming in contact with such a plant.
Camping can be a very nice experience, if you go prepared. Research is necessary in order to really plan correctly. Use the guide above and prepare yourself for the best time of your life.
